Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 teenagers) booked a white water rafting tour with Wave Expeditions in early June.
The communication with the company was awesome from the moment I made the reservation. They answered all my questions very quickly and were super professional.
We got picked up at our hotel (The Arenal Springs) on time (8:30am). Everyone was wearing masks and following protocol.
It took a little less than 2 hours to reach our drop off point. The head of the team (Augusto I think) explained all the rules and gave us a good security pep talk.
We got assigned the amazing Momo as our guide. He was the best. Very professional, friendly, funny and always up for some action.
Mid-way through our trip, we stopped for a delicious snack (fresh fruits) and then continued our trip. Overall, we were 2 good hours on the boat.
Momo made the experience especially fun for my teens who were able to jump in the water and experience other fun tricks. But he also was always about safety, which was giving me peace of mind!
The Sarapiqui water rafting class III-IV is intense and non stop rapids. It was perfect for us and exactly the kind of thrill we were looking for.
At the end of the trip, we got dry towels and we drove about 10min to a restaurant where we were able to change into dry clothes and got a delicious local meal. And then back on the bus for a little over 1 hour trip back to La Fortuna headquarter of Wave Expeditions, where we were able to purchase the pictures of our adventure. And the bus finally dropped us off back at our hotel by 4pm.
It was definitely a very memorable adventure and I would highly recommend it to any family seeking fun with teenagers. Momo is the absolute best and we could not recommend Wave Expeditions more.
