COSTA RICA COAST TO COAST: 12 Days/ 11 Nights

Day 1 Arrival Day – San Jose

One of our representatives will greet you at the airport. You will be transferred to the HOTEL DON CARLOS (or similar) where you will pick up your travel packet with vouchers and information about the next two weeks in Costa Rica. Hotel Don Carlos is located in the historical district, once residence for two past Presidential families, the historical Hotel Don Carlos’ warmth and charm, graciously awaits you. The hotel has a great location and is within walking distance of many area attractions.

Day 2 – TORTUGUERO

Tortuguero beach is the most important nesting site of the endangered green turtle in the Western Hemisphere. Giant leatherback, hawksbill, and loggerhead turtles also nest here. Early morning departure for the journey to Tortuguero for 2 nights accommodation in Laguna Lodge. Enjoy a scenic drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park (breakfast served en route) followed by a relaxing boat trip through the jungle canals to get to Tortuguero. A welcome cocktail awaits you as you arrive to this natural paradise. Your naturalist guide will explain the afternoons activities of strolling through the Tortuguero town and visiting the Turtle Conservation center. During your visit to Tortuguero with Laguna Lodge, you will explore the National Park’s system of waterways, a natural plumbing system of canals and navigable lagoons that crisscross the park from southeast to northwest bringing a constant fresh supply of water to the park lowlands These canals provide the perfect habitat for 57 species of amphibians, 111 species of reptiles and 60 species of mammals.

Day 3 – TORTUGUERO – WILDLIFE BOAT TOUR

Included Optional 6:15 am tour to admire the awakening of the wildlife of Tortuguero. Return for breakfast (service between 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). Then another boat tour to admire the canals of Tortuguero National Park. This is a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna of Tortuguero National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch and free time for a siesta, enjoy the pool or go for a walk to the beach. Then you have another optional included tour to the canals or stay at the lodge to explore the private trails of the lodge, visit the open butterfly garden or simply enjoy the pool. Dinner at the lodge and night at leisure.

Day 4 – ARENAL

After breakfast you will begin our trip to La Fortuna around 9:00 a.m. leaving Tortuguero by boat and then van for lunch at Selva Tropical Restaurant. Your private transfer will be waiting for you at the Selva Tropical restaurant. Arrive in Fortuna area around 3:30 p.m. (time varies on exact departure times from Tortuguero, weather and traffic.)

Enjoy 3 nights at the Arenal Springs Hotel at the base of the active Arenal Volcano.                                    

Day 5 -  ARENAL – Rafting on the Toro River.

Lets Go Rafting! Set deep in the Costa Rican rain forests and fed by waters from the Poas volcano, the Toro river winds 12 Km (about 8 miles) through the canyon filled with dramatic scenery and heart pumping excitement. The Toro River offers some of Costa Rica’s best white water with big waves, technical rapids and continuous whitewater.  This trip is full of nonstop class 3 and 4 rapids that offer a great day of rafting!

Our journey begins with a 1 hr scenic drive through the Eastern portion of central Costa Rica through the beautiful pineapple, papaya and yucca fields with Volcano Arenal set in the backdrop.  Once we reach our destination, our trained/skilled guides will review the rules and safety guidelines for the river.  Then we will take the PLUNGE and head down river. We will enjoy the spectacular scenery and a thrilling ride. Halfway through our journey we will “re-fuel” on the river bank and enjoy some delicious tropical fruit while soaking in the tropical surroundings. At the end of our journey we will indulge in ice cold refreshments followed by a Typical Costa Rican lunch filled with Gallo Pinto and fresh fruits. So come challenge yourself and RIDE THE BULL!

Day 6 – ARENAL:

Enjoy the day exploring one of the many tours and attractions that La Fortuna has to offer. Take a volcano hike in the Arenal National Park, soak in one of the area hot spring, or visit the stunning Fortuna waterfall. Fortuna has something for everyone.

Day 7 – TRANSFER TO MONTEVERDE

Travel to Monteverde via el taxi boat taxi service over stunning Lake Arenal.  Enjoy the next two days exploring the misty cloud forest of the Monteverde Region from the Heliconia Hotel. Enjoy two nights accommodation in this unique mountain town.

Day 8 – MONTEVERDE – Morning Canopy Zip Line Adventure

Enjoy the morning zipping through the treetops on a Canopy Tour. Your afternoon is free to choose to visit the cloud forest, take a walk on the suspension bridges, or visit the Don Juan Coffee Plantation to see how this regions famous drink is harvested.

Day 9- TRANSFER TO MANUEL ANTONIO

Private morning transfer to Manuel Antonio to hit the beach and the famous Manuel Antonio National Park where you will get a chance to get up close and personal with area white faced monkeys and iguanas. Enjoy 3 nights accommodations at the Costa Verde hotel soaking in the sun on the Pacific.

Day 10 – MANUEL ANTONIO -  Catamaran and Dolphin Sail.

Sail aboard a 60 foot Sailing Catamaran. This relaxing adventure gives you the opportunity to see the many dolphins, sea turtles, and birds of the Manuel Antonio Marine Preserve all while enjoying the breathtaking views of the Manuel Antonio coastline and offshore islands. Enjoy a feast of fresh fruits, grilled fish brochettes, pasta salad, drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic included) and the finest hospitality. Tour departs in the morning and afternoon depending on the time of year.

Day 11 – MANUEL ANTONIO

Enjoy a free day to explore the Manuel Antonio National Park or some fun in the waves at the beach.

Day 12: DEPARTURE DAY

A short morning flight brings you back to the International Airport for your departure from Costa Rica. PURA VIDA!
